WATCH | When Punjab CM Channi Helped Rescue A Cow From A Pit At Midnight

While bidding a goodbye after the rescue mission, CM Channi sought blessing from the cow, referring to it as ‘massi'. “Changa massi, dhyaan rakhin,” he said.

New Delhi: Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi won praise on social media after he made an unscheduled stop to join the rescue of a cow that had fallen in a deep pit late Monday night.

On his way home, when Channi saw a group of people gathered on the road, he got down to take stock of the situation and joined the men in their rescue efforts.

"On my way back to the residence, a cow had fallen in a pit. Efforts are being made for the rescue," he tweeted around midnight, sharing a 17-minute video.

Channi lent a helping hand as he could be seen holding a torch as the group tied ropes around the cow to pull it out of the ditch.

He was also seen trying to strategise with the team on how to bring the animal out of the pit.

The pit, as seen in the video, was quite deep and narrow. It proved to be a challenging task to rescue the cow, and it took them a long time to finally accomplish the job.

The bovine was safely brought out of the pit and onto the road. Channi left the site only after the job was done, and shared the rescue mission live on his Twitter handle.

While bidding goodbye, the CM sought blessing from the cow, referring to it as ‘massi (aunt in Punjabi)’. “Changa massi, dhyaan rakhin,” he said.

The act earned him a lot of praise.

Here is the video shared by the CM:

In the video, Channi could also be heard chatting up with the men about their well-being. “We will find you work,” he told a man who said he was unemployed, asking him to pay him a visit.
