As per the family members, the Prime Minister’s mother was born on this day in 1923. To mark the occasion, a "bhandaro" (community meal) has been organised at the city's Jagannath temple.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met his mother today on the occasion of her 100th birthday at his native town of Vadnagar in Gujarat. According to a report by news agency PTI, PM Modi reached Raysan village on the outskirts of Gandhinagar city, where his mother stays with his younger brother Pankaj Modi, around 6.30 am and spent around half an hour there.
As per the family members, the Prime Minister’s mother was born on this day in 1923. To mark the occasion, a "bhandaro" (community meal) has been organised at the city's Jagannath temple. Hatkeshwar temple at Modi's hometown Vadnagar has also planned various programmes for his mother's birthday, PTI reported.

PM Modi also penned down a blog for his mother’s birthday saying, “Maa…this isn’t a mere word but it captures a range of emotions. Today, 18th June is the day my Mother Heeraba enters her 100th year. On this special day, I have penned a few thoughts expressing joy and gratitude.” He also shared a picture of him sitting with his mother along with the tweet.

“Today, I feel extremely happy and fortunate to share that my mother Smt. Heeraba is entering her hundredth year. This is going to be her birth centenary year. If my father had been alive, he too would have celebrated his 100th birthday last week. 2022 is a special year as my mother’s centenary year is starting, and my father would have completed his,” he wrote in the blog.
“I have no doubt that everything good in my life, and all that is good in my character, can be attributed to my parents. Today, as I sit in Delhi, I am filled with memories from the past,” he added.
PM Modi is on a day’s visit to Gujarat where he will visit the Pavagadh temple and later address a rally in Vadodara.
