Bengaluru: A video in making rounds on social media showing Karnataka Congress president D K Shivakumar slapping a party worker who tried to put his hand on his shoulder.

According to media reports, the incident took place on Friday when Shivakuma was in Mandya to check on the health of former Minister G. Madegowda. While Shivakumar was on the way, the party worker walking beside him tried to put his hands on the leader's shoulder. Later, when Shivakumar realised that his act has been captured by the media present there, he urged them to delete the video, and defended saying that he got angry as no social distancing was maintained.

Reacting at the incident, BJP national general secretary C T Ravi pointed out Shivakumar’s past association with notorious Bengaluru don Kotwal Ramachandra. "If this is how the "former shishya" (disciple) of Kotwal Ramachandra treats his party worker, one can imagine what he would do with others. Have you given DKS the "licence for violence"," Ravi asked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in his tweet.

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party dubbed Shivakumar a "rowdy". Sharing the 2 minute video on official Twitter handle, the BJP said, "Being the president of a national party, it is unforgivable to publicly assault a man."

This is not the first time that Shivakumar has misbehaved with partyworkers. In 2018, he slapped a man who tried taking selfie with him during a Congress election campaign in Bellary.
