Robust Preparations Underway For 77th Independence Day Celebration In Delhi

As the national capital readies itself to commemorate the 77th Independence Day on Tuesday, extensive arrangements have been put in place for the anticipated large gathering at the event, marking a return to normalcy after two years without COVID-19 restrictions.

In light of recent incidents of violence in Haryana's Nuh and neighbouring areas, stringent vigilance measures are being implemented by the police.

Highlighting the security measures, Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Dependra Pathak stated, "Independence Day will be celebrated with full enthusiasm this year with no COVID-19 restrictions in place. Therefore, a robust and adequate deployment of police will be ensured."

The iconic Gyan Path, situated in front of the Red Fort in central Delhi, will be adorned with floral arrangements and G20 signage to enhance the ambience of the national festival celebrations. Notably, the ramparts of the fort, where the Prime Minister addresses the nation, will not feature extensive decorations this year.

Approximately 1,800 special guests, including beneficiaries of the PM-KISAN scheme, have been extended invitations from across the nation to participate in the Independence Day ceremony.

A police officer revealed, "This year, over 20,000 officials and civilians will partake in the Independence Day celebrations. Gyan Path is being adorned with flowers and G20 signage to mark the national festival."
