'Very Big Day For India's Maritime Heritage': PM Modi Commissions Navy Warships, Submarine In Mumbai
PM Modi said this is the first time when a destroyer, a frigate and a submarine, all three are being commissioned together.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday dedicated three frontline naval combatants INS Surat, INS Nilgiri and INS Vaghsheer to the nation on their commissioning at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai.
PM Modi said today is a very big day for India's maritime heritage and the glorious history of the Navy and the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan. "Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had given new strength and a new vision to Indian Navy. Today, on his holy land, we are taking a very big step towards strengthening the Navy of the 21st century. This is the first time when a destroyer, a frigate and a submarine, all three are being commissioned together," PM Modi said.
PM Modi further said India is working for development, and not expansionism. He said 33 ships and seven submarines have been inducted into the Navy in the last 10 years. India's defence production has crossed Rs 1.25 lakh crore and defence equipment has been exported to more than 100 countries, he added.

PM Modi also paid respects to every soldier who has dedicated their life to the defence as January 15 is celebrated as Army Day. "Today is a significant day for India's glorious maritime history and the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission. For the first time, a destroyer, a frigate, and a submarine are being commissioned together. The most proud moment is that all three frontline platforms are Made in India. I congratulate the entire nation on this achievement," he said.
