'Come To India': US Envoy Eric Gacetti's Message To Those Who 'Want To See Future'

US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti said that those who want to see and feel the future should come to India.

Ambassador of the United States to India, Eric Garcetti on Wednesday underscored the importance of India saying one should come to India to see and feel the future.

"... If you want to see the future, come to India. If you want to feel the future, come to India," said the US envoy during  the 'Impact & Innovation: 25 Years of Making Development a Ground Reality' event in Delhi.

"If you want to work on the future, come to India. I have the great privilege of being able to do that every single day as the leader of the US Mission," he added.

Addressing the gathering, Garcetti said: "We don't come here to teach and preach. We come here to listen and learn. And when we have the privilege to work alongside you, whether it's in the digital domain or in the climate actions that we take, we know that the work we do is urgent, and its success must benefit every girl, woman, and marginalised community in this country and around the world."

Last month, Garcetti highlighted the significance of India-US partnership saying that US President Joe Biden told him that India is the most important country in the world.

"He (Biden) has said that privately. He told that to me. He said, Eric, you know, this is the most important country in the world to me when he was asking me to become ambassador."

"Now, I love Joe Biden. We're dear, deep friends for many, many years. I figured, oh, it's just Joe Biden. He says this to every ambassador. France is the most important country. Mexico is the most important country. But he wasn't lying. He meant it because I heard him say it directly in the Oval Office to the Prime Minister, this is the most consequential relationship," Garcetti said.
