A civil services aspirant committed suicide after he was denied entry into the exam hall for the Preliminary Examination as he was late to reach the centre.

NEW DELHI: A civil services aspirant committed suicide after he was denied entry into the exam hall for the Preliminary Examination as he was late to reach the centre, reports said on Monday. 28-year-old Varun, who hailed from Karnataka, has left a suicide note in which he stated he was upset over his failure to sit in the examination. His body was found by one of his friends when she arrived to meet him at his rented apartment in Delhi's Rajendra Nagar, the Indian Express reported. “On failing to get any response from inside, she informed the neighbours. They broke the door open and informed the police at about 5 pm,” the report said quoting a police officer. During the investigation, it was revealed that killed self because he was denied entry into the exam hall. Police discovered a suicide note, in which the deceased said that rules of the examination were well intended, but should be relaxed for a greater good. Varun was staying in Rajinder Nagar for a year, where he was preparing for the exam, the report said. According to a Deccan Chronical report, Varun's examination centre was in Paharganj but he arrived at a wrong address, with this he lost the time and failed to reach the assigned exam centre on time. By the time he reached the actual location, he was late. As per the UPSC rules, entry to the examination hall is closed 10 minutes before the scheduled commencement of the examination. The UPSC conducted the Civil Services Preliminary Exam 2018 on June 3.
