UP: Trainee Pilot Dies In Azamgarh Helicopter Crash, One Injured; Rescue Operation Underway
Aircraft TB 20 was flown by a trainee pilot from the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi (IGRUA) which crashed in the Azamgarh district today.
In a highly tragic incident, one person died after a private helicopter crashed in Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh on Monday. As per the early reports, the aircraft TB 20 was flown by a trainee pilot from the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi (IGRUA) which crashed in the Azamgarh district today. According to news agency IANS, the incident took place in Sarai Meer in an agricultural field at about 11:20 am today. The aircraft was reportedly carrying 4 people. A rookie pilot died and another was injured in the crash while the other two jumped out of the aircraft with the help of a parachute. The pilot deceased in the accident has been identified as trainee pilot Konark Saran.
The aircraft had taken off from the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi, a pilot training institute located at Fursatganj Airfield of Amethi. The aircraft belonged to the academy, Amethi District Magistrate Arun Kumar said, as quoted in the report. Meanwhile, police and local authorities rushed to the spot to conduct the rescue operation. According to reports, around 20 people have been rescued from the debris of the building and the evacuation work is still under progress. The incident took place in the wee hours of Monday and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) reached the accident spot soon after the incident came to light. A child was pulled alive by the NDRF and still, around 20-25 people are feared trapped.It was a solo pilot trainer aircraft. The pilot flew for Mau & was supposed to return to the academy but lost lost communication & crashed.
