UP: Nine-Year-Old Dies After Being Run Over By BJP MP's Car In Basti
BJP MP Harish Dwivedi's car ran over a nine-year-old boy, who later passed away. The boy, according to the complaint, was struck by Dwivedi's white SUV as the children arrived at a petrol pump.
A nine-year-old boy on Tuesday died allegedly after being run over by Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Member of Parliament Harish Dwivedi's car in the Basti district of Uttar Pradesh, news agency PTI reported citing police sources.
According to a complaint filed by Shatrughan Rajbhar, the father of the deceased boy, Abhishek, the accident occurred on Saturday near the Hardiya intersection while he and other children were coming from school.
According to the complaint, Abhishek was hit by a white SUV belonging to Dwivedi just as the children arrived at a petrol pump.
Two white vehicles were allegedly driving from the Manauri side when one of them struck the child, according to Rajbhar's complaint.
According to Circle Officer (Basti Sadar) Alok Prasad, a complaint has been launched against unknown persons under sections 279 (rash and negligent driving) and 304A (causing death by a rash and negligent act) of the Indian Penal Code, PTI reported.

He said the child was admitted to a district hospital and then referred to Lucknow, but he died from injuries while on his way there.
According to the father, despite being in such a position of responsibility, the MP left the child suffering on the road. He didn't see the point in getting out of the car and driving him to the hospital.
Dwivedi was unavailable for comment since his staff said he was attending an organisational meeting in Bihar, PTI reported.
Earlier this month, a six-year-old boy was killed in West Bengal after being hit by the car of a member of parliament. The vehicle belonged to Murshidabad MP Abu Taher Khan and was owned by the Trinamool Congress of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The incident occurred in Pipdekhali Bazaar in Murshidabad.
