Ukraine Crisis: Advisories Issued To Stranded Indians As Last Leg Of Operation Ganga Starts

Under the ongoing evacuation drive, around 13,300 people have returned to India from Ukraine by 63 flights so far, according to the Ministry of External Affairs on Saturday

New Delhi: As the last leg of India's 'Operation Ganga' began on Sunday, fresh advisories were issued to the Indian nationals stranded in Ukraine and Hungary.

Taking to their Twitter handles, the embassies in Hungary and Ukraine asked the stranded students staying in their own accommodations to reach the Hungary City Centre in Budapest between 10am and noon and also fill out a Google form on an ‘urgent basis’.

In a tweet, the Indian Embassy in Hungary wrote, “Important Announcement: Embassy of India begins its last leg of Operation Ganga flights today. All those students staying in their OWN accommodation (other than arranged by Embassy) are requested to reach @Hungariacitycentre, Rakoczi Ut 90, Budapest between 10 am-12 pm.”

In an earlier tweet, the Indian Embassy in Ukraine wrote, “All Indian nationals who still remain in Ukraine are requested to fill up the details contained in the attached Google Form on an URGENT BASIS. Be Safe Be Strong.”

Notably, under the ongoing evacuation drive, around 13,300 people have returned to India from Ukraine by 63 flights so far, according to the Ministry of External Affairs on Saturday. Also, 15 flights have landed in the last 24 hours carrying around 2,900 Indians.

In a daily briefing, MEA official spokesperson Arindam Bagchi had said that 15 flights have landed over the last 24 hours with around 2,900 people onboard. Approximately 13,300 people have returned to India so far by 63 flights under Operation Ganga. Moreover, thirteen flights are scheduled for the next 24 hours. He added that over 21,000 people have left Ukraine, according to a report by NDTV.

Meanwhile, KSDMA Commissioner, Dr Manoj Rajan said, “Through Operation Ganga, we've evacuated 448 students of Karnataka origin. 47 batches from Delhi & Mumbai have reached. 12 flights have been scheduled for Tomorrow. We've another 236 students who have to be evacuated from Ukraine.”

It is to be noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday had chaired a high-level meeting to discuss the ongoing evacuation drive of Indian nationals and the situation in conflict-hit Ukraine.
