Two youth killed in army firing in Kashmir

Srinagar: Two youth were killed and one injured allegedly during firing by soldiers on a stone-pelting mob in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district on Tuesday, police sources said. The sources said two youth identified as Muhammad Iqbal, 24 and Nayeem Qadir Bhat, 22, were killed allegedly in army firing on a violent mob in Handwara town. "While Iqbal died on the spot, Bhat succumbed to critical injuries while being shifted to hospital," said a police source. Locals alleged a school girl returning home was molested by some soldiers after which youth started pelting stones on an army picket posted in the town. High tension gripped the town after the firing incident, and senior civil and military officers have rushed to the town.
