Two PDP MPs Tear Copies Of Constitution In RS, One Of Them Protests By Stripping
Amid massive uproar in Rajya Sabha, Union Home Minister Amit Shah today proposed to revoke Article 370 of the Constitution in Jammu and Kashmir, that grants the special status to the state. The House was adjourned as the bedlam refused to die down.
New Delhi: PDP's Rajya Sabha MPs Nazir Ahmad Laway & MM Fayaz staged a dramatic protest in Parliament premises after resolution revoking Article 370 from J&K was moved by Home Minister Amit Shah in the Upper House. The two PDP members had to physically removed from Rajya Sabha by marshals after they tore copies of Indian Constitution.
MM Fayaz also tore his kurta in protest.
This comes after PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti on Monday called the Modi government's decision to abrogate Article 370 of the Constitution as "the darkest day in Indian democracy".
"Decision of J&K leadership to reject 2 nation theory in 1947 & align with India has backfired. Unilateral decision of GOI to scrap Article 370 is illegal & unconstitutional which will make India an occupational force in J&K," the former Chief Minister tweeted.
"It will have catastrophic consequences for the subcontinent. GOI's intentions are clear. They want the territory of J&K by terrorising its people. India has failed Kashmir in keeping its promises," she said.
