Triple talaq: UP BJP leader’s shocking statement, says 'men change wives to quench their lust'

Uttar Pardesh: spurring a row over the ‘triple talaq’ issue, senior leader in Yogi Adityanath’s cabinet Swamy Prasad Maurya made a shocking statement. Commenting on the issue, Maurya said, “Muslim men resort to triple talaq to quench their ‘lust’ by changing wives”. This statement came when Maurya was present at BJP leader Jitendra Pal’s residence in Uttar Pradesh’s Basti, for a personal event. Murya’s irresponsible statement came while he was in a conversation with media. Where on one hand, Muslim women are getting united on the issue of Triple Talaq; UP minister thinks that men change wives and  give ‘triple talaq’ only to ease their ‘lust’. The minister also added that BJP is standing shoulder to shoulder with Muslim women on the issue of triple talaq, but claimed that “Muslim personal law board has no provision on the issue”. The minister also added the Muslim men leave women to die on the streets with her children, which cannot be appreciated. Maurya lashes out at Mayawati: Maurya also lashed out at BSP supreme Mayawati and said, “When I left BSP, Maywati warned me that anyone who leaves BSP, end his political career. But, I swore I would be at peace after teaching politics to Mayawati”. The leader also added that, “keeping to my promise to myself, I ended Mayawati’s politics in UP and didn’t leave her good enough to be a member of either of the houses of Parliament”. Maurya also commented on Mayawati’s allegations against tampering of EVMs in Loksabha polls, saying “Mayawati is making such statements because it is difficult for her to digest her defeat”.  Making a bitter statement, he added “Mayawati’s brain has stopped working; hence she is giving such statements”
