Previosuly, the houses of two Let terrorists, including the prime suspect of the Pahalgam terror attack, were destroyed. The incidents took place during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, when security forces were searching the houses of Aadil Hussain Thokar and Asif Sheikh at Guree village in Bijbehara and Tral respectively in south Kashmir, PTI reported citing the officials.
The security forces had evacuated the occupants of the houses as well as the neighbours to safety after explosives were found at the premises during the search. Later, these explosives went off, leading to the destruction of both the houses.
According to PTI, Thokar, a resident of south Kashmir's Anantnag district, is one of the prime accused in Pahalgam attack on Tuesday, while Sheikh, a resident of Pulwama's Tral, is suspected to be involved in the attack's conspiracy.
Thokar had reportedly travelled to Pakistan in 2018, after receiving training before returning to Jammu and Kashmir in 2024. Police believe he has been acting as a local guide for the Pakistani terrorists, IANS reported.
Their family members have claimed that they are unaware of the whereabouts of Thokar and Sheikh.
Twenty-six people, mostly tourists, were killed and several others sustained injuries when terrorists opened fire at Baisaran meadow near the popular tourist town of Pahalgam in Anantnag district on Tuesday afternoon.
