'South Liberally Providing For North': TN CM Stalin On Economic Turnaround In State
Tamil Nadu CM Stalin made the statement referencing to former Chief Minister CN Annadurai's earlier observation that 'North is flourishing while South is waning'.
In a recent address during his tour of Tamil Nadu's Kongu belt, Chief Minister MK Stalin reignited the North-South economic debate, underscoring Tamil Nadu’s role in bolstering the nation's growth. He emphasised that the southern states significantly support the northern regions with Tamil Nadu acting as a major contributor through its robust economic development.
Reflecting on the transformation since he assumed office, CM Stalin said, "Our state’s progress stands as a model for the nation. Tamil Nadu is now the second-largest economy in India and the most urbanised state." He referenced former CM CN Annadurai's words about the disparity between North and South, asserting that, unlike the past, the South is now “liberally providing for the North.”
"Anna (former Chief Minister C N Annadurai) used to say that 'North is flourishing while South is waning.' But today we have made the South flourish. The South is liberally providing for the North today, a fact that can't be denied," he said, as per PTI.
During his speech, Stalin highlighted his commitment to active governance, stating, "Let me remind you that Stalin who stands before you is known for executing sustainable projects that shine in the lives of the oppressed."
Stalin also announced significant initiatives for Coimbatore. This includes a new IT complex spanning 17.17 acres in ELCOSEZ next to the TIDEL Park, expected to create 36,000 jobs, and a 5 km extension to the Avinashi Road flyover from Chinniyampalayam to Neelambur, as per the report. Additionally, he unveiled plans for a gold jewellery industrial park in Kurichi SIDCO, a Rs 126 crore project, providing direct employment to 2,000 people and indirect employment to another 1,500. This initiative emerged from discussions with local goldsmiths and manufacturers, he said, underscoring his administration's responsiveness to local industry needs.
