‘Very Very Sad,’ Mamata Condoles Death Of TMC MLA Tamonash Ghosh, First MLA To Die Of Coronavirus In Bengal

The 60-year-old MLA had been admitted in Apollo Hospital since May 24, as he tested Covid positive.

New Delhi: Trinamool MLA in West Bengal assembly Tamonash Ghosh died on Wednesday morning in the hospital where he was admitted after testing positive for Coronavirus. The 60-year-old MLA had been admitted in Apollo Hospital since May 24, as he tested Covid positive. As per initial information, he died because of multi organ failure. He suffered heart, kidney, liver and lung failure. His condition had worsened three days ago. He is survived by his wife Jharna, and  his two daughters. Ghosh’s residence is in Kalighat, Kolkata. He was TMC’s MLA from Falta Vidhan Sabha constituency since 2011. He had been party's treasurer since 1998 and had been with the party for over 35 years. 'Very, very sad,' Mamata Banerjee expresses grief: Reacting to the death of the TMC veteran, Chief Minister and party supremo Mamata Banerjee said that she was very very sad at the death of the 3-time MLA from the party. "Very, very sad. Tamonash Ghosh, 3-time MLA from Falta & party treasurer since 1998 had to leave us today. Been with us for over 35 years, he was dedicated to the cause of the people & party. He contributed much through his social work," Mamata wrote on Twitter. "He has left a void that will be difficult to fill. On behalf of all of us, heartfelt condolences to his wife Jharna, his two daughters, friends and well wishers," she added.

Corona stats: It is to be noted that in West Bengal has so far witnessed 580 deaths in the state due to Covid-19. As per the data made available by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, it has recorded 14,728 total Covid-19 cases so far with 4,930 active cases. As many as 9,218 patients have recovered as well.
