Coronavirus: India Sees Biggest Single Day Spike With Nearly 16k Fresh Cases; Total Now Tops 4.5 Lakh
India recorded one of the biggest single-day spikes with 15,968 fresh Covid 19 cases. The recovery rate is still higher than the number of active cases in the country.
New Delhi: In one of the biggest single-day spikes of coronavirus cases in India, almost 16k fresh cases have been recorded in the last 24 hours taking the total to 4,40,215. According to the data by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, there was a surge of 15,968 fresh cases. The number of active cases at present has increased to 183022. With 465 deaths in a single day, the fatalities caused by Covid-19 has also risen to 14,476.

India’s recovery rate remains high and is more than the number of active cases. Data shows that the total number of people recovered 2,58,684.
Maharashtra is still leading as the worst affected state with a total of 1,39,010 cases out of which 62,848 are active cases. There has been a total of 6531 fatalities.
With rising cases, Delhi has now become the second most severely affected state and according to data has recorded a total of 66,602 cases. There are 24,988 active cases and 2301 deaths in the capital city. Tamil Nadu which has become the third state with a high concentration of Covid 19 cases has a total of 64,603 cases. The state has recorded 28, 431 active cases, and 833 fatalities.
Gujarat remained the fourth worst affected state in the country with a total of 28,371 and 6148 active cases. the state has recorded 1710 deaths so far.

States with more than 10,000 cases include Uttar Pradesh (18,893), Rajasthan (15,627), Haryana (11,520) Madhya Pradesh (12,261) and West Bengal (14,728).
Globally, India falls in the list of top 5 countries with the highest number of cases and is still the fourth-worst affected country in the world after Russia with 5,98,878 total cases. The United States still leads with a total of 2,346,950 and Brazil follows with 1,145,906 cases.
