This Wani from Kashmir wants to protect India; joins BSF after topping exam

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday met a youth from Jammu and Kashmir who has topped the examination for assistant commandant in Border Security Force, saying his success story will inspire many in the state. Singh said he was immensely happy to meet Nabeel Ahmad Wani, a young man from Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir, who topped the BSF assistant commandant examination recently. "The success story of Nabeel shows that youths in Jammu and Kashmir have lot of potentials and his success will inspire many young boys and girls in the state," he said. Wani was accompanied by Director General of BSF K K Sharma when he met the Home Minister, who also wished Wani success and bright future in life. The Home Minister also introduced Wani to top officials, including NSA Ajit Doval, Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi and others, who had come for a meeting with Singh during that time. Wani said that he felt unemployment was the biggest problem being faced by the youth which can only be solved by education. Wani, who is currently serving as a junior engineer in Udhampur, said it was his dream to join the defence forces and serve the country which has now been fulfilled. "The more we get education the better and more jobs we will get. We cannot get education by taking to stones but by holding a pen," Wani said. Speaking to ABP News, Wani said that “I am not just a Kashmiri, I am an Indian and can be posted anywhere in the country.I won’t say I have done anything for my nation. I will now have to and give 200% as my responsibilities have become higher. I felt very homely during the meeting with Rajnath Singh. He offered me sweets, took my personal views, enquired about my family and gave me blessings. It feels very good to get such motivation as the central government is not holding any biases." Wani also sent out a message to the youths indulging in violence in Kashmir asking them to do something productive that can make their parents proud. “Unemployment is the biggest problem in the region. My message to the youths in Kashmir is to have a goal and diligently work towards it. The violence and unrest for so many weeks have only caused losses to the common man. What happened in the past can’t be rectified but now in the present they should do something productive which can make their parents proud in the future.
