'Kattar Bhrashtachar Sammelan': PM Modi's Scathing Attack On Opposition Meeting In Bengaluru

PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the opposition and said that their mantra is 'of, by and for family'.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday took a jibe at the opposition's meeting and said that the opposition's mantra is 'of, by and for family. He was speaking after virtually inaugurating the new integrated terminal building (NITB) of the Veer Savarkar International Airport at Port Blair in Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Tuesday. PM Modi said that the opposition has given a clean chit to DMK despite 'cases of corruption in Tamil Nadu' and that it does not speak about the violence that occurred during the Bengal panchayat elections.

"In democracy, it is of the people, by the people and for the people.  But for the dynastic political parties, it is of the family, by the family and for the family. Family first, nation nothing. This is their motto... There is hatred, corruption and appeasement politics. The country is a victim of the fire of dynastic politics. For them, only their family's growth matters not that of the poor in the country...," the PM said.

Taking a swipe at the opposition, PM Modi said "...Today, people of the country have already decided to bring us back in 2024. So, people who are responsible for the plight of India have opened their shops...24 ke liye 26 hone waale rajnaitik dalon par ye bada fit baith'ta hai. They are singing some other song but the reality is something else. A label of something else has been put up but the product is someone else's. There is a guarantee of poison of casteism and immense corruption at their shops. Now, they are in Bengaluru..."

On the joint Opposition meeting in Bengaluru, PM Modi said, "People of the country say that this is a 'Kattar Bhrashtachar Sammelan'...Another specialty of this meeting is that if someone is out on bail in a corruption of crores of Rupees, they are seen with great respect. If the entire family is out on bail, they are more honoured...If someone insults a community and is punished by the court, he is honoured..."

"For a long time in India, development was only restricted to the big cities due to the selfish politics by some parties, which led to tribal and island regions being deprived of development," the Prime Minister added.

PM Modi's attack comes as 26 Opposition parties kicked off their summit in Bengaluru on Monday to strategise for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP-led NDA will be eyeing a big show of strength with their meeting in Delhi on Tuesday. BJP president JP Nadda said 38 parties have confirmed their participation in the NDA meeting.

It will be the first such NDA meeting during the second term of the Narendra Modi government.

The run-up to these meetings saw leaders of both alliances taking jabs at each other. While Congress said the saffron party was "baffled" by what the Opposition was doing and hence gathering "factions of parties", BJP called the Opposition meet "bhanumati ka kunba" (motley group) and an opportunistic alliance.

NDA Meeting To See 38 Parties In Attendance

Ahead of the meet, the BJP received a major shot in the arm with the joining of Chirag Paswan's LJP, Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) and Jitan Ram Manjhi-led Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) into the NDA fold.

The new entrants who will be attending the NDA meeting are the Shiv Sena led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, NCP led by Maharashtra deputy CM Ajit Pawar, Rashtriya Lok Janata Dal (RLJD) led by Upendra Kushwaha and the Jana Sena led by Pawan Kalyan.

However, there is uncertainty on whether BJP's former allies such as the Akali Dal and the Telugu Desam Party would join the NDA even though they have invited for the meeting.

Speaking at a press conference, BJP national president JP Nadda said, "The NDA will resolve that the country will again elect its government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership."

On the Opposition meeting in Bengaluru, Nadda said, "It has been cobbled together with a selfish motive to protect these leaders from cases of corruption of more than Rs 20 lakh crore during the UPA government. This is just a good photo opportunity."
