Everything Shown In 'The Kashmir Files' Had Been Suppressed Throughout History: PM Modi

The film which is being discussed widely throughout the country, especially on social media is about the oppression of Kashmiri Pandits. 

New Delhi: During the Parliamentary meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned Vivek Agnihotri's film The Kashmir Files and said that there have been attempts to hide the truth before. The day the film was released, PM Modi met the director Vivek Agnihotri. 

Pralhad Joshi, the Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines of India quoting the PM said that in the history of India since the Emergency there have been attempts to suppress the truth.

The film which is being discussed widely throughout the country, especially on social media is about the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits due to insurgency.

Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra on Monday during a press conference said that all policemen in Madhya Pradesh will be given in leave to go watch Vivek Agnihotri's film 'The Kashmir Files' whenever they choose to do so with their families. 

Similarly, on Sunday, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had decided to exempt the film from entertainment tax in the state. In a tweet on Sunday, CM Chouhan had said the film is a "heart-wrenching narration of the pain, suffering, struggle, and trauma faced by Kashmiri Hindus in the 90s".

Aside from Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana, Karnataka has announced that the movie ‘The Kashmir Files’ will be tax-free in the state.

The Kashmir Files has been written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri and produced by Zee Studios, the film depicts the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from Kashmir following systematic killings of people from the community by Pakistan-backed terrorists. It stars Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Joshi among others.
