'Suspicious Movement' Near Nagrota Military Station, Search Operation On

Firing was reported near Nagrota Military Station after suspicious movement was detected; a sentry was injured in the exchange. Search ops are underway amid fresh ceasefire violations by Pakistan.

An incident of firing was reported from near the Nagrota Military Station near Jammu on Saturday after "suspicious movement" was noticed in the area. A sentry sustained injuries in the brief exchange of fire with the suspect, the Army said, adding that search operations were on to track the intruders.

"On noticing suspicious movement near the perimeter, alert sentry at #Nagrota Military Station issued a challenge, leading to a brief exchange of fire with the suspect. Sentry sustained a minor injury. Search operations are underway to track the intruder(s)," the 16 Corps of Indian Army posted on X.

Earlier, news agency ANI had reported, citing sources, that a terrorist attack was carried out at the military unit. It, however, deleted the tweet later and posted that it was retracting the news, awating more details.

In a subsequent post, ANI said: "J&K Firing incident was reported at an Army unit in Nagrota. As per Sentry, suspicious movement was seen, but there has been no further contact after initial engagement. Further investigations are on in the incident. More details awaited: Army sources"

Security forces are conducting search operation in Nagrota to track the suspects.

Meanwhile, blackouts resumed as multiple ceasefire violations by Pakistan were reported late Saturday evening along the International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LoC) in various sectors of Jammu and Kashmir. According to security sources, the Border Security Force (BSF) has been ordered to deliver a strong retaliation to the unprovoked cross-border firing.

The violations began post 8 pm, with Pakistan targeting areas near the IB, including Palwan and Ghanachak. Several regions in Jammu, including the RS Pura sector, witnessed intense firing from across the border. The BSF is reported to be giving a “fitting response” to the provocations.

The BSF is currently responding to Pakistan’s cross-border firing along the international border in Jammu’s RS Pura sector. Firing incidents have also been reported along the LoC in the Akhnoor sector, where the Indian Army is gathering information from local formations.
