Telangana CM KCR Compares Protesters With 'Dogs'; Opposition Demands Apology

After laying the foundation stone of a government scheme in the Nagarjun Sagar area, KCR was addressing a public gathering to seek votes for the upcoming by-elections when a group of people, including women, started protesting while holding some papers.

Nalgonda: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao recently compared a group of protesters at a public event to 'dogs', triggring a massive uproar from Opposition parties who have demanded an apology from the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader. The incident took place when Rao was in Nalgonda district to lay the foundation stone for several irrigation schemes. After laying the foundation stone of a government scheme in the Nagarjun Sagar area, KCR was addressing a public gathering to seek votes for the upcoming by-elections when a group of people, including women, started protesting while holding some papers.

This is where the Chief Minister lost his cool and abruptly said, "Now that you have given the memo, leave from here. If you want to stay, please remain calm. No one will be disturbed by your antics. There are several dogs like you."

The incident immediately started making headlines post which Manickam Tagore, the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee in-charge, slammed the CM over his remarks demanding an apology.

"The Telangana CM calls women at Nagarjuna Sagar public meeting ‘dogs’. Don't forget that this is a democracy and the women standing there are the reason you sit in that position. They are our bosses. Apologise, Chandrashekar," said Tagore.

Even Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Krishna Saagar Rao referred to the comment as an insult to Hindus and the saffron party.

"KCR has insulted Yadavs (Gokasulu) by comparing them with demons (Rakasulu) in his public rally. He claims that he has dealt with and defeated Rakasulu (Demons), and dealing with Gokasulu (those who herd cows) is no big deal. He made these statements while he was verbally attacking BJP, which establishes that he was making this statement is a direct reference to Hindus and especially Yadavs," alleged the BJP spokesperson.

Even BJP has demanded an apology from KCR for his "unwarranted remarks" and said that KCR should take lessons in public speaking, especially for the use of socially acceptable vocabulary while addressing party campaigns.
