BJP MLA Raja Singh Slams Telangana Police Over Removing 'Flags' From Office, Sparks Fresh Row

The Telangana police, however, rejected Singh’s assertion, stating that the flags removed were not Pakistan’s national flags and appeared to violate public order guidelines.

Raja Singh, BJP MLA from Goshamahal, has criticised the Telangana police for removing flags placed outside his residence, claiming they were part of a protest against Pakistan’s alleged support for terrorism. According to Singh, the flags resembled Pakistan’s national flag and were displayed by his supporters to condemn Pakistan’s actions.

The Telangana police, however, rejected Singh’s assertion, stating that the flags removed were not Pakistan’s national flags and appeared to violate public order guidelines. Singh, undeterred, urged officials to verify the flag designs through online searches and accused the authorities of suppressing his right to protest.

Taking to X, Raja Singh said, "Today an attempt is being made to divide India into two parts...On one hand, the citizens of India are angry due to the incidents of terrorists shooting after asking their religion...On the other hand, our Hyderabad police is angry about placing slippers on the 'Pakistan' flag... I want to remind Hyderabad police...You are in Hyderabad, India... not Hyderabad, Pakistan..."

The incident has once again thrust the controversial legislator into the spotlight. As he is facing multiple security threats, Singh is currently provided 2+2 security cover and a bulletproof vehicle by the Telangana police, reported Siasat.

Raja Singh Controveries

This latest row adds to a growing list of controversies surrounding the BJP leader. Earlier this month, during a Ram Navami procession in Hyderabad, Singh drew criticism for urging Hindus to travel to Maharashtra and demolish the tomb of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. He went so far as to call upon Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy CM Eknath Shinde to fix a date for the act.

In February, Singh also came under the scanner after Meta—Facebook and Instagram’s parent company—removed social media accounts linked to him. The move followed a report by India Hate Lab that highlighted hate speech content allegedly associated with his online presence.
