Tamil Nadu: Three Govt School Teachers Arrested For 'Sexual Assault Of 13-Yr-Old Student'

In Tamil Nadu, the assault came to light after the school officials concerned about the girl's sudden absence sent a representative to her home to investigate.

Three teachers from a government middle school in Krishnagiri district were arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl student. The accused teachers have been booked under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The District Education Officer also issued orders to suspend the teachers after the crime came to light. 

C Dinesh Kumar, Krishnagiri Collector told ANI, "A 13-year-old girl student was allegedly sexually assaulted by three teachers at a government middle school in Krishnagiri district. The three teachers have been suspended by the District Education Officer (DEO) and arrested under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The accused teachers have been sent to police remand for 15 days.

The crime came to light after the survivor stopped attending school from January 3. Concerned about her sudden absence, school officials sent a representative to her home to investigate. During the inquiry, it was revealed that the child had been subjected to sexual assault by the teachers.

Based on the guidance of the school teachers, the parents of the suvivour gave a complaint to Bargur All Women Police Station who took the matter to Child Safety officer. 

On Krishnagiri rape incident, DMK spokesperson Saravanan Annadurai said, "The hollowness of the Opposition in Tamil Nadu is illustrated by these statements... These are all perverts who have caused sexual assault on a 13-year-old girl. The government has acted very swiftly. 

"The way they have been making these charges on every incident and trying to push it on the DMK government is going to backfire on them... It is the response to the crime which speaks volumes about the law and order situation," he said.
