Tamil Nadu Man Beheads 2.5-Year-Old Niece, Throws Severed Head In Rameswaram Pond

Reports indicate that the child had been playing outside her home with her 13-year-old cousin when the uncle Sanjay arrived and suddenly took her away.

A man allegedly murdered his two-and-a-half-year-old niece and discared the severed head in a nearby pond in Emaneswaram, Tamil Nadu. The girl, identified as Lemoria, was murdered by her uncle, M Sanjay, who is believed to be mentally unstable.

Threw Severed Head Into Pond

Reports indicate that the child had been playing outside her home with her 13-year-old cousin when Sanjay arrived and suddenly took her away. He reportedly led Lemoria to his residence, situated approximately 50 to 100 meters away, where he used a knife found inside to carry out the brutal act, as per a report on India Today. He then allegedly walked off with the severed head and threw it into a pond in the vicinity.

The child's cousin, shocked by the incident, immediately informed other family members, who contacted the authorities. Police teams responded swiftly, recovered Lemoria’s remains, and transported the body to the Paramakudi Government Hospital for a postmortem examination, reported India Today.

The police launched a search operation to track down Sanjay, who was located and taken into custody by the afternoon. Investigators are now questioning him to determine his motives and mental condition at the time of the crime.

Meanwhile, in Kerala’s Ernakulam district, a separate tragedy unfolded when a 36-year-old woman named Sandhya allegedly murdered her 4-year-old daughter, Kalyani, by throwing her into a river from a bridge. The accused was taken into custody in Chengamanad, about 35 km north of Kochi, after confessing to the crime. However, an autopsy report later revealed that Kalyani was sexually assaulted before the murder. In connection with this, authorities have also taken her father's brother into custody.

In another incident last year, a mother threw her 2-year-old baby into a lake after the baby developed health issues. The incident took place at Ramtirh Nagar in Karnataka.
