Suspended AAP Councillor Tahir Hussain Sent To 4-Day Police Custody In IB Staffer's Murder Case
Delhi's Karkardooma court remanded suspended Hussain to four days police custody after he was arrested in IB staffer Ankit Sharma murder case from a court.
New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Monday arrested suspended Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councilor Tahir Hussain before Delhi court in connection with Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer’s murder case, during the recent communal clash that tore across the northeast region of the national capital.
Delhi's Karkardooma court remanded suspended Hussain to four days police custody after he was arrested in IB staffer Ankit Sharma murder case from a court. Earlier, he was arrested in connection with a matter related to violence in north-east Delhi.
On Friday, the Delhi Court had extended the police remand of suspended AAP councilor Tahir Hussain by three days in connection with the violence in the national capital.
He is also accused for involvement in instigating the violence.
The police had registered a criminal case against him on a complaint filed by deceased IB staffer's father. As per the post-mortem report, Sharma sustained 51 injuries and died due to haemorrhage. Sharma’s body was recovered from a drain in Chand Bagh on February 26.
Sharma’s father has alleged that Hussain, whose office is located near Chand Bagh Pulia, gathered men who were pelting stones and petrol bombs during the violence which led to tension and fear among local residents.
At least, 53 people including Ankit Sharma and Head Constable Rattan Lal were killed in the violence in the national capital.
Salman alias Haseen is also in police custody in connection with the murder. The police had, last week, told the court that he will soon be confronted with Hussain to unearth the conspiracy.
Hussain's brother, Shah Alam, was also arrested in connection with the riots and is currently in judicial custody.
