Stones Pelted, Police Vehicles Torched In Clash Between 2 Groups In Maharashtra. Cops Assure Strict Action

After a clash broke out between two groups in Maharashtra's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar's Kiradpura area, some police vans and public vehicles were set on fire.

Some police vans and public vehicles were set on fire after a clash broke out between two groups in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar's Kiradpura area, the Maharashtra police said on Thursday, as reported by the news agency ANI. The clash broke out on the intervening night of March 29 and 30. According to the Commissioner of Police (CP) of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Nikhil Gupta, stones were also pelted during the clash.

"Stones were pelted, and some private and police vehicles were set on fire. Police used force to disperse the people and now the situation is peaceful," Gupta said, as quoted by ANI. He further said that police will take strict action against the miscreants.

Earlier this month, Pimpri Chinchwad police carried out lathi-charge to disperse the crowd after a clash broke out between a group of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) workers during the inauguration of an event at Pimpri Chinchwad city in Maharashtra's Pune district.

According to the police official, there was a chance of clashes between the two groups, so police had to resort to lathi-charge to disperse the gathering. The incident happened just before the former Chief Minister and current Leader of the Opposition (LOP) of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis was to arrive for the inauguration of Atal Bihari Vajpayee garden.
