As Cases Begin To Dip CMs Extend Covid Lockdown With Some Relaxations | Know About Your State Here

The lowering cases may come as a relief but there is still a long way ahead. However, many states have decided to extend ongoing lockdown while some are going ahead with relaxations. 

New Delhi: Covid-19 cases seem to be lowering in India, India has reported around 1.5 lakh new Coronavirus cases today. According to official data, India reported 1,52,734 new COVID 19 cases, 2,38,022 discharges & 3,128 deaths in last 24 hours.

The lowering cases may come as a relief but there is still a long way ahead. However, many states have decided to extend ongoing lockdown while some are going ahead with relaxations.

Maharashtra: Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday announced to put in place restrictions and "not a strict lockdown" to contain the spread of novel Covid-19 in the state. Addressing the state, the Chief Minister announced to extend the existing Covid-19 restrictions for another 15 days. In his address, the Chief Minister also warned the citizens of predicted third wave of Covid-19 and mutation of the virus, which needs to be dealt the appropriate behaviour. 

Uttar Pradesh: The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday announced partial relaxations in the existing Covid lockdown restrictions. CM Yogi Adityanath in a statement on Sunday said, "Curfew will continue in districts which have more than 600 active COVID cases for one more week. When active cases will come under 600 the curfew will end automatically. We've eased restrictions in 55 districts from 7 am to 7 pm." According to an official release, the Corona curfew will continue in 20 districts that have more than 600 active cases. These districts are Lucknow, Meerut, Saharanpur, Varanasi, Ghaziabad, Gorakhpur, Muzaffarnagar, Bareilly, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Jhansi, Prayagraj, Lakhimpur Kheri, Jaunpur, Sonbhadra, Baghpat, Moradabad, Ghazipur, Bijnor, and Deoria. In the remaining 55 districts, shops will be allowed to open with strict safety protocols from 7.a.m to 7 p.m.

Madhya Pradesh: The MP government has approved a phase-wise unlocking of the "corona curfew" restrictions beginning June 1, the weekend lockdown will continue to be in force across the state. Also, there will be separate sets of unlocking guidelines for the places having the COVID-19 positivity rate above and below five per cent, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said. The state government on Sunday allowed 100 per cent attendance for officers and 50 per cent for other employees in its offices.

Delhi: CM Arvind Kejriwal-led state government on Saturday announced an extension of Covid-induced lockdown in the nation capital till June 7. The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) announced an extension of curfew on the movement of individuals, except for essential activities, in the national capital which shall remain in effect till 5 am on June 7 (Monday). The DDMA order also says that E-passes obtained by people for movement related to supply of essential goods and services will continue to be valid. Additionally, some activities will be allowed outside the containment zones in the city from May 31 including operations of manufacturing and production units within closed premises in approved industrial areas and construction activities with work sites. However, the movement of workers or employees will be allowed only on the possession of e-pass.

Jammu and Kashmir: The state government on Sunday announced, partial relaxation in some public activities although the lockdown has been extended till June 15th. Night curfew will be imposed from 8 p.m. till 7 a.m. while weekend curfew will be imposed from 8 p.m. each Friday till 7 a.m. on Monday. During this period, all education institutes, including colleges & coaching centers are to remain closed. Religious place can remain open as long it follows the SOPs given. All cinemas, multiplexes, clubs, gyms, spas, massage centres and paid parks shall continue to remain closed.

Kerala:  Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday announced the easing of lockdown norms, even as the lockdown was extended to June 9. When we imposed the lockdown earlier this month, our objective was to bring down the active cases to less than 2.50 lakhs and that we achieved yesterday. "We will have to continue with caution as things have to be further brought under control and hence we decided to extend the lockdown till June 9," said Vijayan. He however said that more easing of lockdown norms will be there which include banks working for the entire day on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while jewellery, textiles and book shops can open on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Haryana: The lockdown in Haryana has been extended till June 7, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said Sunday, while also announcing relaxations for shopping malls and shops. Schools, colleges and ITIs will continue to remain shut.

Odisha: Chief Secretary S C Mohapatra said the lockdown has been extended by 16 more days in the state till June 17 and is primarily aimed at "restricting movement of people and not goods. The weekend shutdown will also continue, he said. "However, for three districts Nuapada, Gajapati and Sundergarh the relaxation period will be from 7 am till 1 pm, instead of 8 am to 11 am, from Monday to Friday, keeping in view the decline in COVID-19 cases in these places. This relaxation may be withdrawn if there is any sign of rise in infections," Mohapatra said.

West Bengal: On Thursday, the government extended the Covid-related restrictions on services and movement in the state till 15 June in view of an unprecedented surge in coronavirus cases. According to the guidelines, no cultural, political, academic, administrative or religious events and functions will be allowed during this period. No outdoor congregations will be permitted between 9 pm and 5 am. Industries will be closed but tea gardens can function, although at 50% strength only.

North Eastern states like Tripura, Mizoram, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya have extended the lockdown until June 11th. Bihar has imposed lockdown till June 1. Jharkhand till June 3 and Rajasthan has extended lockdown till June 8.
