Govt Calls Special Parliamentary Session From September 18 To 22, Pralhad Joshi Announces
The Special Session of Parliament which will take place from September 18-22 will be held in the new Parliament building.
The government has called for a "special session of Parliament" for five days from September 18 to 22, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Thursday. There will be five sittings and the session is likely to be held in the new Parliament building.
"Special Session of Parliament (13th Session of 17th Lok Sabha and 261st Session of Rajya Sabha) is being called from 18th to 22nd September having 5 sittings. Amid Amrit Kaal looking forward to have fruitful discussions and debate in Parliament," Joshi said.

More than 10 important bills are likely to be introduced during the "special session", sources told ABP News.
Speaking to ABP News, Congress leader and MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said, "We have not received any information on it so far. Parliament is being run on their (Centre) own will. What was the emergency for this session to be called when the Winter Session would have taken place?"
He added, "I don't know what the intentions of the government are. Maybe Prime Minister Narendra Modi has some intention to shift from the old building to the new. Maybe he wants to do some Puja there or do something shocking. We don't know but this seems strange."
When he was asked about the Uniform Civil Code, Chowdhury said, "A lot can happen that's why the Centre will try to fool people and create a stressful environment as the elections are due. Many controversial things will be brought up. They will do such things to distract the people from the real issues. BJP is going to face a tough fight in five states. That's why they are using these strategies."
The timing of this Special Session is noteworthy as it coincides with the mega opposition bloc INDIA's third meeting which will be held in Mumbai.
