Sonali Phogat Death Case: Haryana CM Khattar Says Govt Will Consider CBI Probe If Family Wants

"I spoke with Goa CM and police officials. Phogat's family members have written a complaint suspecting murder," said ML Khattar.

New Delhi: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday said that the state government is ready to order a CBI inquiry into the murder of BJP leader Sonali Phogat in Goa. Talking to reporters here, the CM said, "Whatever the family wants, we will do accordingly." it will be considered. CM Khattar said that he had talked to Goa CM Pramod Sawant and the police there about conducting a separate investigation from the initial theory that Sonali died of a heart attack.

"I spoke with Goa CM and police officials. Phogat's family members have written a complaint suspecting murder," said ML Khattar.

Significantly, Sonali Phogat, a resident of Hisar in Haryana, had a suspected heart attack after which she was taken to St. Anthony's Hospital in Anjuna in the North Goa district on Tuesday morning.

After this, the police registered a case of unnatural death. The hospital had already formed a committee of two forensic experts to conduct the post-mortem. Phogat's brother had lodged a complaint with the Goa Police that she was murdered by two of his sister's associates. Sonali's brother Rinku Dhaka had on Wednesday claimed that she was murdered by two of her sister's associates. Rinku had said that the family would allow the postmortem only after the Goa Police registers an FIR against both persons.

The autopsy was conducted at the Goa Medical College and Hospital after her family agreed to the procedure.

Dr Sunil Shrikant Chimbolkar of the Forensic Science Department of GMCH in his report reserved the opinion on the cause of death.
