Sonali Phogat Death: Police Register Murder Case, Autopsy Report Finds 'Multiple Blunt Force Injuries'

The 42-year-old BJP leader from Hisar, who rose to fame by her Tik Tok videos, was brought dead at the St Anthony Hospital in Anjuna area of North Goa district on Tuesday morning.

A murder case has been registered in Goa's Anjuna Police Station against two persons in the death case of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sonali Phogat, sources told ABP News on Thursday. According to reports, the case has been registered by Goa Police against two of Phogat's associates who had accompanied her to Goa. Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code was added to the case related to the death.

Sudhir Sagwan and Sukhwinder Singh, who had accompanied Phogat when she arrived in Goa on August 22, were named as accused in the case.

The development came hours after an autopsy was conducted at a state-run Goa Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) two days after her death. It was revealed that Phogat's post-mortem report mentioned 'multiple blunt force injuries on body', news agency PTI repoted quoting an official.

“The cause of death due to the best of my knowledge and belief is reserved pending chemical analysis. Histopathology and serological reports of the tissues preserved,” the report said.

"However there are multiple blunt force injuries over the body. In view of the above, the manner of death is for the investigating officer to ascertain," it added.

Goa Police is interrogating Sangwan and Singh. The Police is investigating whether they did not have any political conspiracy. Several people have been summoned for questioning in this case.

The 42-year-old BJP leader from Hisar, who rose to fame by her Tik Tok videos, was brought dead at the St Anthony Hospital in Anjuna area of North Goa district on Tuesday morning. Police, however, had earlier said that she died of a suspected heart attack.

However, Phogat's family has alleged that her associates, who were travelling with her to Goa, were involved in the killing.

Phogat's brother Rinku Dhaka has claimed she was murdered by two of her associates. He said the family will allow the postmortem only after the Goa Police register a First Information Report (FIR) against the two suspects.

Dhaka had filed a complaint with the Goa Police, claiming she was murdered by two of her associates.

He alleged that a short while before her death, Sonali Phogat had spoken to her mother, sister and brother-in-law. She sounded disturbed and complained against her two colleague, he added.

Dhaka even claimed that her sister was sexually assaulted by one of her aides three years ago after spiking her food and later blackmailed her.

Sonali Phogat's nephew Mohinder Phogat told news agency PTI that the family has given consent for the postmortem with a rider that the entire procedure be video-graphed. "The police have told us that the FIR in connection with our complaint would be filed after conducting the postmortem," he said.

Meanwhile, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant told reporters in Panaji that state Director General of Police Jaspal Singh was personally monitoring the investigation into the case of Phogat's death.
