Sonali Phogat Death Case: CBI Finds Goa Police Did Not Investigate BJP Leader's iPhone

Sonali Phogat Death Case: CBI sources told ABP News that the phone might hold important clues behind the death of Phogat, who passed away in Anjuna on August 23.

In a case of negligence by Goa Police, the CBI team probing the death of Sonali Phogat has found that the cops did not investigate the iPhone of the BJP leader. CBI sources told ABP News that the phone might hold important clues behind the death of Phogat, who passed away in Anjuna on August 23.

CBI took over the probe from the Goa Police on September 15 and registered an FIR into the case.

After taking over the case, the CBI received Phogat's iPhone and asked Goa Police about the password of Phogat's iPhone. However, the police had no clue about the password.

Eventually, the CBI was able to unlock the phone after receiving the password from Phogat's family members.

The CBI will now conduct a thorough investigation of Phogat's phone. Questions are also being raised on the reasons behind the Goa Police not investigating the iPhone. Sources said the CBI may also investigate this aspect at its level.

A CBI team is in Goa to conduct a probe into the death of TikTok star and BJP leader. Last week, the team visited the hotel where Phogat was staying as well as the partially demolished Curlies restaurant where she partied.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah had ordered a CBI probe into the death of Phogat.

Phogat had come to Goa on August 22. That night Phogat and her aides had partied at the Curlies restaurant. Phogat was allegedly drugged at a party there by her two aides Sudhir Sagwan (Phogat's PA) and Sukhwinder Wasi.

The next morning, she was taken to the St. Anthony's hospital where she was declared brought dead.

Both have been arrested and charged with murder by the Goa Police.

Phogat was administered methamphetamine, and some left-over drug was recovered from the washroom of Curlies restaurant.
