Addressing the media, the DGP said, “This incident seems to be a case of an inter-gang rivalry.” He said the name of Moose Wala’s manager Shaganpreet had figured in the murder of youth Akali leader Vicky Middukhera last year. Shagunpreet had fled to Australia, PTI reported.
Moose Wala’s murder took place in retaliation for Middukhera’s murder, the top police official said.
As per PTI sources, Canada-based Goldy Brar, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, took the responsibility for the murder.
Punjab Director General of Police V K Bhawra also told PTI that there were four Commandos appointed for Moose Wala’s security, however, the security is thinned every year because of the anniversary of Operation Bluestar and ‘Ghalughara week’ next month.
Two of the Commandos were withdrawn, but the two others were still there. He added that it was Moose Wala’s own decision to not take the security and his bulletproof car with him on the day of the murder.
The DGP further said 30 empty bullet shells have been recovered and at least three weapons like 9 mm and 455 bore appeared to have been used in the crime, PTI reported.
Moose Wala died because of nearly a dozen bullet wounds as he was carried to the hospital on Sunday where he was declared dead. Along with him, two other people were also taken to the hospital and are stable now.
