Shivpal Yadav will be among the 14 national general secretaries and the others include Mohammad Azam Khan, Swami Prasad Maurya, Ravi Prakash Verma and Balram Yadav.
Sudip Ranjan Sen will be the treasurer while there will be 19 national secretaries besides party members.
Akhilesh Yadav will continue to hold the post of the party chief, while Kiranmoy Nanda will be the national vice-president and Ram Gopal Yadav will be the party’s national principal general secretary.
It is to be noted that this development comes a day after party chief Akhilesh Yadav held a meeting at the party office.
As per reports, the party president also discussed the ongoing controversy over SP Legislative Council member Swami Prasad Maurya's latest controversial remarks against Hindu epic Ramcharitmanas. According to news agency PTI, Maurya reached the SP office around noon and held a meeting with Yadav for about 90 minutes on Saturday.
It is to be noted that Maurya courted controversy on January 22 after he referred to a couplet in Shri Ramcharitmanas and called it derogatory towards women and backward people, demanding a ban on it.
The statement quickly triggered a row with several seer bodies and Hindu organisations coming out to condemn it.
However, the SP has distanced itself from Maurya’s statement terming it his personal opinion. Even Shivpal Yadav distanced himself from Maurya’s critical remarks and said the party follows the ideals of Lord Rama and Lord Krishna and that Maurya's statement was his "personal opinion".
