Several Injured In Bus Accident As Kerala & Karnataka Govt Buses Collide In Thrissur

A Kerala state-run bus rear-ended a Karnataka state transport bus in Thrissur, injuring 15, including the KSRTC driver.

At least 15 people were injured in a road accident involving two state-run buses at Mundur in Thrissur district during the early hours of Saturday. The incident took place around 5 AM, when a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus en route to Guruvayoor rammed into the rear of a Karnataka state transport bus.

Among the injured was the KSRTC driver, who sustained serious injuries and is currently under observation, as per a report on Manorama. Several passengers also suffered varying degrees of trauma and were immediately shifted to Amala Hospital for medical treatment, reported Mathrubhumi. Emergency responders and local police reached the spot soon after the crash and assisted in evacuating the injured.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the mishap. It is investigated whether poor visibility and possible speeding may have played a role. Officials are also reviewing surveillance footage and taking statements from the passengers involved.
