J&K: Security Forces Destroy 'Suspicious Object' In Pulwama Ahead Of Republic Day

Security forces destroyed a suspicious object lying on a road in Pulwama’s Badibagh Pahu area in Jammu and Kashmir.

A "suspicious object" found on a road in the Badibagh Pahu area of Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district was destroyed by security forces earlier today, according to sources cited by news agency ANI. The incident occurred just a day before the Republic Day celebrations in the national capital on January 26.

As per the ANI report, the sources in the police confirmed the detection of the suspicious object and its subsequent destruction, emphasising that no damage or injuries were reported. "Security forces successfully detected and destroyed a suspected object in the Badibagh Pahu area of South Kashmir's Pulwama district. No damage or injuries were reported," stated the sources, the report said.

Upon receiving information about the suspicious object, security forces swiftly responded to the scene, maintaining a heightened state of alertness in the Union Territory. Despite the prompt action taken, there has been no official confirmation of the incident at this time, according to ANI report. More details awaited.

It is to be noted that President Droupadi Murmu is set to lead India's 75th Republic Day celebrations, featuring an impressive display of military prowess and cultural heritage during a 90-minute parade at the majestic Kartavya Path on Friday.

The celebrations, centered around the theme of showcasing the nation's women power and democratic values, will have French President Emmanuel Macron as the chief guest. The armed forces will showcase a variety of indigenous weaponry and military equipment, including missiles, drone jammers, surveillance systems, vehicle-mounted mortars, and BMP-II infantry combat vehicles during the parade.

A notable addition to this year's ceremony is the participation of an all-women tri-services contingent, marking a historic moment in the country's biggest ceremonial event.
