'Search In The US If...': Smriti Irani's Retort After Congress Puts Out 'Missing' Poster For Amethi MP

Rahul Gandhi reached San Francisco on Tuesday for a 10-day visit to the United States. Addressing a lecture on Wednesday, he slammed the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government in India.

Union minister Smriti Irani on Wednesday lashed out at Congress after the party tweeted a ‘missing’ poster of her, alluding that she has been silent on the allegations of sexual harassment against Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Hitting out at Congress, the Union women and child development minister responded to the poster suggesting the party to “contact US” to look out for the former Amethi MP, referring to Rahul Gandhi’s San Francisco visit.

“O divine political creature, I have just left Sirsira village, Vidhan Sabha Salon, Lok Sabha Amethi towards Dhuranpur. If looking for former MP please contact the US,” she responded.

On Tuesday, the former Lok Sabha MP reached San Francisco for a 10-day visit to the United States. Addressing a lecture on Wednesday, he slammed the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government in India.

He said that PM Modi is lying down and since his government cannot work on unemployment, inflation and crumbling education and hence he is doing the 'sceptre thing' and Parliament inauguration. He said this while replying to a question on the increase in the number of seats in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

Meanwhile, Irani spoke on the issue of wrestlers’ protest and berated the grapplers saying why would Babita Phogat be with people who exploited someone. Wrestling champion Babita Phogat who joined Bharatiya Janata Party in 2019 is the cousin of Vinesh Phogat, also a wrestling champion, who is currently leading the protest along with Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik against Singh.

In an interview with a television news channel, Irani asked why would Vinesh’s cousin sit with people who exploited her family members.

“I was with Babita Phogat, 2-3 hours before this interview. Do you think a famous wrestler like Baibta Phogat would sit with people who would have exploited someone and that too people of her family,” she said.

“Do you think Babita Phogat would go against her family?”

On Wednesday, the Delhi police said that an investigation was underway in the matter and denied reports stating that police do not have sufficient evidence to arrest Singh. Union sports minister Anurag Thakur also urged the wrestlers to wait until the conclusion of the probe.
