'This Shows Modiji's Frustration': Arvind Kejriwal Calls Sanjay Singh's Arrest 'Completely Illegal'

Delhi CM and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal called Sanjay Singh's arrest as "completely illegal", targets Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying it shows his "nervousness".

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday called out Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the arrest of his party MP Sanjay Singh in the alleged liquor policy scam. Calling the arrest "completely illegal", Kejriwal said that Singh's arrest showed Modi's "nervousness" and added that more leaders from opposition parties will be arrested in the coming days. Singh was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate for alleged money laundering in the now-scrapped excise policy in the national capital.

"The arrest of Sanjay Singh is completely illegal. This shows Modi ji's nervousness. They will arrest many more opposition leaders till the elections," Kejriwal said in a post on X.

The Wednesday action by ED marks third arrest of a senior leader of the Aam Aadmi Party following the arrest of former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain and former Delhi Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

Delhi minister and AAP leader Atishi also called it "BJP's desparation" saying it is an attempt to silence opposition. "BJP knows they will lose the upcoming state elections and Lok Sabha elections. Yesterday there were raids on senior journalists and today Sanjay Singh has been arrested," she said.

"INDIA alliance stands together and will continue to fight to save the Constitution," Atishi said.

Gujarat AAP chief Isudan Gadhvi said that the BJP is trying to find ways to "damage Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and his team" adding that the agencies "will not find anything."

AAP minister Gopal Rai dubbed the Singh's arrest as "undeclared dictatorship" saying "If BJP thinks that on the basis of power, agencies, they can win elections by imposing undeclared dictatorship in the country and stifling all voices - then history says that public gives a reply."

He said a protest will be staged outside BJP headquarters on Thursday at 11 am.
