BJP MP Rita Bahuguna’s 6-Year-Old Granddaughter Burnt To Death After Firecracker Mishap; Had Recently Recovered From Covid-19

She was admitted to a private hospital for treatment and the family was making arrangements to shift her to Delhi for advanced treatment in an air ambulance on Tuesday.

New Delhi: Following a fire-cracker mishap on the night of Diwali, Bharatiya Janta Party MP Rita Bahuguna Joshi’s granddaughter succumbed to burn injuries on Tuesday morning . The six-year-old girl named Kiya had sustained 60 per cent burn injuries while bursting crackers on the roof of her house on Monday evening. She was the only daughter of the MP's son Mayank Joshi and his wife Richa Joshi. The family has been left devastated following the incident. She was admitted to a private hospital for treatment and the family was making arrangements to shift her to Delhi for advanced treatment in an air ambulance on Tuesday. She received serious burns whilst burning firecrackers on the night of Diwali on Saturday. She had received more than 60% burns. In a critical condition, she was to be shifted to Delhi on Tuesday via an air ambulance. However, she succumbed to the burns before being shifted. After the incident, Joshi had contacted Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Health Minister Dr Harshvardhan and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, seeking help for better treatment. She was to be brought to Delhi’s Military hospital for further treatment. The mishap took place when she was playing with firecrackers along with other children. Kiya had recently recovered from Covid-19. She was treated at a Gurgaon hospital along with her grandmother and other members of the family. Watch report:
