Sonipat Traffic Update: Security Tightened, Heavy Vehicle Movement Restricted Ahead Of Republic Day In NCR City — Details

Republic Day 2025: During this time heavy vehicles will be banned in Delhi parking spaces will be arranged in several areas in Sonipat.

Republic Day 2025: Ahead of the Republic Day rehearsals, the Sonipat police have issued an advisory about the movement of heavy vehicles to Delhi. Between January 23 and January 24, there will be a ban on heavy vehicles entering Delhi. Also, the entry of vehicles will be prohibited in the national capital from 8 pm January 25 until the evening of January 26.

Parking space will be created for heavy vehicles in the Sonipat areas.

Parking spaces will arranged in the Sonipat area at Badi and Kundli Industrial areas, Kurad Bypass, and Rajiv Gandhi Education City.

Additionally, security will be tightened and checkpoints will be established at 13 locations along Sonipat National Highway 44. Vehicles travelling to and from Delhi are going to be closely monitored, according to Sonipat East DCP Prabina P.

Earlier, Delhi Traffic Police tweeted about the traffic restrictions that have been imposed in Gurugram on the entry of heavy and medium goods vehicles into the city as part of the traffic management plan for the Republic Day celebrations.

As per the advisory issued by the city's traffic police, these vehicles will not be allowed to enter the cities from 5 pm on January 22 until 1:30 pm on January 23. Heavy vehicles have been restricted from entering the two cities from 5 pm on January 25 to 1:30 pm on January 26.

A traffic advisory has also been issued in Noida to manage vehicular movement during the Republic Day full dress rehearsal and the parade.  It said that heavy vehicles entering Delhi from the Chilla border can take a U-turn at Chilla Red Light and proceed via the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, connecting to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway.

The advisory stated that the general public and motorists may remain updated through Delhi Traffic Police's official channels, social media accounts and helpline numbers.
