Religious Leaders Meet NSA Ajit Doval; Discuss Maintaining Peace After Ayodhya Verdict

The meeting of religious leaders took place at Doval's residence in Delhi.

New Delhi: Religious leaders including Baba Ramdev and Mahmood Madani, held talks with National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval on Saturday, after the Supreme Court delivered its historic judgment on the decade-long Ram Janmbhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute. The meeting took place at Doval's residence here. "It (the meeting) was about maintaining peace in the country. The verdict should not be looked at as a loss or a win for anyone," Swami Parmatmanand told reporters after the meeting. "We are satisfied with the judgment. It is good that the Supreme Court also gave land to the Muslim community," he said. Swami Avdheshanand Giri, who is the chairman of the Hindu Dharma Acharya Sabha was also among the seers who met the NSA. The seers who met the NSA included Avdheshanand Giri, who is the chairman of the Hindu Dharma Acharya Sabha. The Supreme Court in a unanimous verdict on Saturday cleared the way for the construction of a Ram Temple at the disputed site at Ayodhya, and directed the Centre to allot a 5-acre plot to the Sunni Waqf Board for building a mosque. In one of the most important and most anticipated judgements in India's history, a 5-judge Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi put an end to the more than a century old dispute that has torn the social fabric of the nation.
