Rashtrapati Bhawan, India Gate Illuminated In Red To Spread Awareness On Dyslexia
To help spread awareness, UNESCO MGIEP and its partner ChangeInkk Foundation, had sought the support of the Government in ‘Go Red’ campaign.
New Delhi: In a bid to spread awareness on dyslexia, Rashtrapati Bhawan, Parliament, North and South Block and India Gate, along with several other historical monuments and government buildings were illuminated with red lights on Sunday evening, news agency ANI reported.
Every year, October is celebrated as International Dyslexia Awareness Month, when high-impact events and advocacy drives are organized under the slogan ‘Go Red’. The aim of such events is to remove the stigma associated with dyslexia, eradicate discrimination, and raise public awareness.
To help spread awareness, UNESCO MGIEP and its partner ChangeInkk Foundation, had sought the support of the Government in ‘Go Red’ campaign, where several important buildings and monuments across Delhi displayed red lighting on Sunday.

It is to be noted that internationally it is estimated 1 in 5 persons have a learning disability. However, only 1 in 20 gets identified, wherein their chances of dropping out of school by Class 8 rises by 35 per cent.
As per latest studies, over 150 million Indians are thought to have a specific learning disability, out of which 35 million are students.
Notably, Dyslexia is one of the 21 disabilities recognized by Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act of 2016.
The New Education Policy 2020 is also committed to including it in the classroom.
ChangeInkk Foundation, in partnership with OrkidsFoundation, had also organised a walk on Kartavya Path on Sunday morning, which saw the participation of more than 300 people across age groups and from all walks of life.
Notably, ChangeInkk Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation working for Dyslexia awareness and empowerment of people with Learning Disabilities. It is actively building inclusive ecosystems that support people with the learning disability.
