Rampur: Woman alleged rape by husband & 4 others in name of ‘Nikah Halala’

The police have now registered a case against 9 people; though no arrests have been made so far.

Rampur: In a shocking incident, a woman has been allegedly raped by four people, including her husband Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur. As per the victim, her husband raped her in the name of Nikah Halala after giving her Triple Talaq. “I was married off to someone else for three months but later he married another woman” the woman alleged. The police have now registered a case against 9 people; though no arrests have been made so far. What is Nikah Halal? Nikah means marriage and Halala means making something lawful which is currently unlawful. Nikah Halala involves a female divorcee marrying someone else, consummating the marriage and then getting a divorce in order to make it allowable to remarry her previous husband. Nikah Halala is forbidden and invalid according to Islam but is practiced by certain sects of Sunni Muslims.
