Plea Filed In Allahabad HC Seeking Stay On Ram Temple Bhoomi Pujan On Aug 5 Amid COVID-19
The plea, filed by Delhi-based lawyer Saket Gokhale on Wednesday, stated that approximately around 200 people are likely to gather and attend the event which is a gross violation of the guidelines set by the government amid the coronavirus pandemic.
A petition has been filed by a Delh-based Lawyer in the Allahabad High Court seeking a stay on the Bhoomi Pujan event at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on August 5, terming the event as a violation of the Unlock 2.0 guidelines.
The plea, filed by Delhi-based lawyer Saket Gokhale on Wednesday, stated that approximately around 200 people are likely to gather and attend the event which is a gross violation of the guidelines set by the government amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The plea pointed out that there is a risk of coronavirus infection spreading due to the religious gathering.
The plea states that the Uttar Pradesh government could not allow the event to be held in Ayodhya as per the Centre's guidelines. Taking to Twitter Gokhale revealed that both Ram Janmabhoomi Tirth Kshetra Trust and the Union government have been party to the issue. Moreover, Gokhale has also filed an RTI with the MHA asking if an exemption was given to the event and on what grounds.
