'May This Festival Bring New Sweetness': PM Modi Extends Greetings On Raksha Bandhan

President Droupadi Murmu also greeted on the occasion and urged the citiznes to take a pledge to ensure the safety and respect on women in the society.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings on the occasion on Raksha Bandhan on Monday wishing new sweetness in the relationship of a brother and sister.

"Best wishes to all countrymen on the occasion of Rakshabandhan, a festival symbolizing the immense love between brother and sister," Modi said in a post on X.

"May this holy festival bring new sweetness in the relationships of all of you and happiness, prosperity and good fortune in life," he added.

President Droupadi Murmu also greeted on the occasion saying the festival instills a feeling of affection and respect towards all sisters and daughters.

She also urged the citiznes to take a pledge to ensure the safety and respect on women in the society. Her message comes at a time when nationwide outrage has erupted over the rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee medical student at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

"On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all the countrymen. This festival, based on the feeling of love and mutual trust between brothers and sisters, instills a feeling of affection and respect towards all sisters and daughters," Murmu said in an X post.

"I would like that on this festival day, all the countrymen take a pledge to ensure the safety and respect of women in our society," she added.
