Rajasthan: Dausa Minor Rape Accused Arrested. BJP Alleges Cong Govt Believes In 'Rapists Bachao' — Updates

BJP criticised the state's Congress govt over law and order, claiming that while the Centre believes in "beti bachao," the CM Gehlot-led Government in Rajasthan believes in "rapists bachao."

Officials on Saturday stated that a police sub-inspector suspected of raping a juvenile girl in Rajasthan's Dausa district had been fired and detained after a complaint was filed against him under relevant laws, including the POCSO Act and the SC/ST Act, news agency PTI reported. DGP Umesh Mishra stated in a statement that IG (Jaipur range) Umesh Datta fired Sub-Inspector Bhupendra Singh on Saturday. On Friday, he said, he received orders to fire him. On Friday, the cop was arrested and suspended.

After the case arose, the opposition BJP criticised the state's Congress administration over law and order, claiming that while the Centre believes in "beti bachao," the Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot-led Government in Rajasthan believes in "rapists bachao."

Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra criticised the occurrence, stating it brought humiliation to the whole community, and directed DGP Umesh Mishra to take harsh action in the issue.

The kid was reportedly enticed into a room by the sub-inspector on Friday afternoon and raped, according to police, who added that Singh was dismissed on the spot and a report of his misbehaviour was forwarded to the IGP of Jaipur Rural for further action.

The incident that occurred in the Lalsot neighbourhood caused widespread outrage. Locals gathered in huge numbers to gherao the Rahuwas police station and chanted anti-police chants. A video has emerged online purporting to show a crowd dragging the sub-inspector down the street and assaulting him with shoes and sticks while his clothing were ripped off.

The minor was examined by a doctor, and her condition is stable. The girl's precise age has yet to be confirmed, although authorities believe she is between the ages of four and five.

On the basis of a complaint from the girl's parents, Dausa Superintendent of Police Vandita Rana said a FIR has been registered against the accused under sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

“The case is being investigated by an additional SP-rank officer. The statement of the victim girl has been recorded and further action is being taken,” she was quoted by PTI in its report.

On Friday, BJP MP Kirodi Lal Meena visited the scene and sought justice for the youngster.

At a news conference on Saturday, BJP national spokesman Shehzad Poonawalla said that rapists had "high confidence" in poll-bound Rajasthan, citing a number of examples of atrocities against women and children, including those involving police and other government personnel.

Poonawalla claimed that the FIR was lodged only after demonstrations arose in an attempt to save the guilty individual and delete evidence, despite the fact that the youngster is just four years old and hails from a Dalit household.

Governor Mishra called DGP Mishra and asked him to make necessary measures for law and order and public safety, as well as to treat such situations seriously.
