'MP Number 1 In Atrocities Against Women': Congress On BJP's Allegations Over Dausa Rape Case

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh stated that the BJP is using the rhetoric of polarisation to deflect attention away from the efforts of the Congress.

In response to the rape of a young girl in Dausa, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh remarked that atrocities against women wherever are abhorrent, news agency ANI reported. On Friday, a juvenile girl was reportedly raped by a police sub-inspector in Rajasthan's Dausa district, according to authorities. Speaking with ANI, Ramesh stated: "Wherever atrocities against women happen, they are shameful. They have to be condemned. Madhya Pradesh is number one in cases of atrocities on women, atrocities on Dalits. The proceedings against criminals take place in Rajasthan. Action is taken against those who are criminals as soon as possible."

On the alleged rape of a minor girl by police personnel in Dausa, Bajrang Singh Shekhawat, ASP Dausa said: " Case registered as per the complaint received and an investigation officer has been appointed and the probe is being done...accused will be arrested today, he was suspended yesterday...he will be arrested under IPC 376, POSCO act and Section 3 of SC/ST act."

Jairam Ramesh also attacked the BJP, claiming that the saffron party had no issues in Rajasthan. "BJP is issueless in Rajasthan. They have a weapon- ED and CBI, who will now take a break for Diwali and will become active again and the second weapon is the language of polarization. PM Modi, Home Minister, UP CM, Assam CM, all of them will adopt the language of polarization because they are nervous," he said.

He further stated that the BJP is using the rhetoric of polarisation to deflect attention away from the efforts of the Congress. "Look at the work that has been done in Rajasthan in the last 5 years in the health sector. Women are getting cylinders for only Rs 500. This has not happened anywhere else; this is the Rajasthan model. To divert attention from the work done by Congress, PM Modi is adopting the language of polarization," he added.
