The order suspending internet services by the Jodhpur Divisional Commissioner Himanshu Gupta came into effect from 1 am today.

New Delhi: After Monday's incident of violence in Rajasthan's Jodhpur, fresh clashes erupted between the two communities at Jalori Gate area of the city forcing the police to resort to lathi-charge, reported news agency ANI.

In the fresh clashes that happened today, people raised slogans and pelted stones at each other over the dispute involving religious flags.

Earlier today, Internet services were temporarily suspended by the district administration after clashes were reported between two communities Monday night, ahead of Eid Ul-Fitr and the Akshaya Tritiya festivals.

The order issued by the Jodhpur Divisional Commissioner Himanshu Gupta, as a precautionary measure from spreading rumours, came into effect from 1 am today.

"All 2G/3G/4G/ Data (Mobile Internet), bulk SMS/MMS/Whatsapp, Facebook, Twitter and other social media services through Internet service providers (except voice calls, broadband Internet, leased lines have been temporarily suspended till further orders in the entire Jodhpur district," read the order issued by the district administration, as reported by ANI.

The order was enforced after several people belonging to two different communities were injured in stone pelting after some miscreants replaced a religious flag of one of the community at Balmukand Bissa at the Jalori Gate intersection circle Monday night. The move was objected by the other community, which resulted in clashes.

During the violence, loudspeakers installed in the area for the Eid prayers was also removed and smashed by the crowd, reported ANI.
