Rajasthan Bans Kanwar Yatra And Bakrid Celebrations Amid Third Wave Scare, Issues Guidelines

The Rajasthan government has banned any kind of religious processions in the state including Kanwar Yatra and Bakrid celebrations.

Jaipur: Raising concerns over the speculated third Covid wave, the Rajasthan government has banned Kanwar Yatra and Bakrid and all other religious celebrations and activities until further orders.

Ashok Gehlot lead government has conveyed that religious pilgrimage in the form of Kanwar Yatra will not be allowed in the state.

The state government has also decided to put a ban on the public offering of prayers on the occasion of Eid-ul-Zuha in Rajasthan.

The new guidelines come after eleven cases of Kappa variant were detected in the state. Last week, two cases of the Kappa variant were also detected in Uttar Pradesh.

The Uttarakhand government had banned the ‘Kanwar Yatra’ earlier, citing the threat due to the Covid pandemic. The borders of Uttarakhand will be sealed for Kanwariyas from July 24. The Supreme Court has also urged the Uttar Pradesh government to reconsider its decision to allow the Kanwar Yatra amid the Covid pandemic.

Rajasthan Covid guidelines

As per the guidelines, swimming pools will not be allowed to open.

Public parks will remain open from 5 am to 4 pm, they said, adding persons who have taken at least one dose (first dose) of Covid vaccine will be allowed to enter parks from 4 pm to 8 pm.

All the district magistrates, commissioners of police have been instructed to ensure strict compliance of “No Mask No Movement".

The district administration will ensure monitoring of violation of quarantine rules and Covid appropriate behavior in all urban and rural areas, the guidelines said.

Rajasthan records 35 new cases in 24 hours

Rajasthan recorded 35 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, taking the infection tally to 9,53,292, according to an official report issued here.

No fresh Covid fatality was recorded in the state on Friday. The death toll due to the infection stands at 8,947, it said.

Of the new cases, eight were reported from Udaipur and seven from Jaipur among other others, it said.

A total of 9,43,842 people have recovered from the infection and the number of active cases at present is 503, the report added.
