Rajasthan Rumble: BJP To Move No-Confidence Motion In Assembly; Vasundhara Raje Claims 'This Govt Won't Last Long'

Leader of Opposition in state Gulab Chand Kataria said that the break in Congress party will end in some decision adding that the saffron party will move a no confidence motion on Friday.

Jaipur: In what comes as yet another roadblock for the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government ahead of the 200-member Rajasthan assembly session slated to begin tomorrow, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is now planning to move a no confidence motion in the House. The decision by BJP comes after former Rajasthan Chief Minister and senior party leader Vasundhara Raje claimed on Thursday that the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government won’t last long. "This government won't last long," Raje said just a day ahead of the special assembly session of Rajasthan and three days after Congress managed to sign a peace deal in the ongoing political rumble between Gehlot and his former deputy CM Sachin Gehlot. According to reports, BJP has also called for a legislative party meeting in the state Assembly at 9:30 am on Friday. Hitting out at the BJP for toppling a stable government in Rajasthan, Gehlot also said that a “very dangerous” game to undermine the democracy is going on in the country. The Rajasthan political crisis, which lasted for nearly a month, now seems to be heading towards a truce with Gehlot saying that it is natural for the MLAs to be upset, and the “friends” who had left have now come back. Earlier this week, Pilot had met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi which signalled an "amicable resolution" of nearly a month-long Rajasthan political crisis ahead of the crucial assembly session beginning August 14. Indicating an end to the rebellion in the Congress' Rajasthan unit, a meeting took place between Sachin Pilot and his loyalists and the three-member panel formed by interim party chief Sonia Gandhi to look into their grievances, at the war room in the Congress headquarters in New Delhi on Monday. I have given 20 years to the party now. We have always attempted to ensure the participation of people who worked hard to form the government." He said that he was not hankering for any post as the party has the sole right to give and take away a post. Pilot also stressed that his fight was ideological and not personal. Pilot also said that he believed that all these issues will be resolved after Sonia Gandhi heard all their concerns and the governance issues that they had raised. He also welcomed the formation of the three-member committee. Once all dissidents return, the Congress will have a total strength of 107 MLAs in the 200-member state Assembly where the simple majority is 101. The Congress also has the support of a number of independent MLAs. BJP has 72 MLAs.
